Summer
The Area
South Tyrol in summer is one of the great secrets of the Alps. From June to September, Verano sits at the perfect altitude: warm enough for T-shirts in the afternoon, cool enough for good sleep at night. The meadows are full of wildflowers, the air smells of pine and grass, and the hiking is superb.
Hiking
Trails start directly from the apartment door. The plateau is laced with well-marked paths ranging from easy valley walks to demanding ridge routes. Highlights include:
- The Waalweg (irrigation channel path): a flat, scenic walk through orchards and meadows following the historic Waal irrigation channels. Suitable for all ages.
- The Tschögglberg ridge walk: a longer route with sweeping views over the Adige valley, the Ortler massif and the Dolomites.
- Texel Nature Park: one of the largest nature parks in the Alps, starting less than 30 minutes away by car. Hundreds of kilometres of marked trails, alpine lakes, and wildlife including chamois and golden eagles.
- Merano 2000 plateau: reachable by gondola from Merano, with gentle high-altitude walks and panoramic views.
Other summer activities
